ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The faculty of electrical and electronics engineering offers a 2 year masters program in power electronics and drives. This program has an increasing exposure towards growing of industrial needs. This program includes importance of detailed study of power electronic devices and its applications for AC drives and DC drives, power system voltage stability and its control and the trends in the renewable energy systems.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
PO 1: An ability to independently carry out research/investigation and development work to solve practical problems
PO 2: An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document.
PO 3: Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program.
PO 4:Apply knowledge of basic science and engineering in design and testing of power electronic systems and drives.
PO 5: Interact with Industry in a professional and ethical manner to meet the requirements of societal needs and to contribute sustainable development of the society.
PO 6: Implement cost effective and cutting edge technologies in power electronics and drives system.
From these labs helps to study the characteristics of switching devices and its applications in rectifier, inverter, chopper and resonant converter. This makes the student learn how to apply the electronic devices for conversion, control and conditioning of electronic power. To Design the driving circuits, sensing circuits, protection circuits for power converters and analyze the three-phase controlled rectifiers and isolated DC-DC converters for designing the power supplies.
This lab is provided with Micro Controller based Speed Control of VSI Fed Three-Phase Induction Motor, Micro Controller based Speed Control of Converter/Chopper Fed Dc Motor, 3 phase Autotransformer, Intelligent Power Modules, Isolation Transformer, 8051 Based MC Trainer Kit, PC Keyboard & LCD Display Card, Relay Card, PIC Microcontroller Kit, Stepper Motor Interface Board.
