Established in 2001 by the Ponmudi Muthusamy Gounder Trust, Sasurie College of Engineering (SCE) was founded with the mission of empowering rural communities through education. The college offers a diverse array of programs, including eight undergraduate degrees (B.E. in Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, CSE with Cyber Security specialization, and B.Tech in AI & DS, IT) and six postgraduate degrees (MBA, M.E. in CSE, Applied Electronics, VLSI Design, Power Electronics and Drives, and M.Tech in IT).
Since its inception, SCE has been guided by visionary leadership, beginning with Shri A.M. Kandaswami, a prominent industrialist and philanthropist who believed in the transformative power of education, particularly in rural areas.
SCE’s teaching and learning environment is carefully designed to foster educational excellence. The institution prioritizes critical thinking, communication, and creativity through outcome-based education and skill-focused methods. By leveraging digital resources and engaging academic strategies, SCE has significantly enhanced students’ cognitive abilities and overall academic performance. A structured mentorship program supports struggling students, with regular assessments helping to improve their performance in semester exams.
Located on a 10.61-acre campus near Vijayamangalam village, SCE boasts spacious classrooms equipped with LCD projectors, an auditorium, seminar halls, tutorial rooms, common areas, and essential facilities. The campus features state-of-the-art laboratories and a high-speed internet-equipped Computer Centre, underscoring the college’s commitment to experiential learning. To ensure uninterrupted power supply, the campus is equipped with a power house, solar panels, UPS systems, and inverters. Facilities designed for accessibility, including ramps and specialized restrooms, promote inclusivity. The college fosters a research and development culture through initiatives like the Smart India Hackathon, patent filings, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) programs. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) nurtures entrepreneurial skills, while industrial visits provide practical exposure to emerging technologies. The campus is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, sports facilities, hostel accommodations, a hygienic canteen, gymnastics and yoga amenities, and a healthcare center with ambulance services. GPS-equipped transportation within a 50km radius ensures a secure and comfortable environment for students.
SCE hosts a wide range of activities throughout the year, including an induction program for new students, cultural and sports events, and competitions in essay writing, poetry, debates, drawing, singing, dancing, and face painting. These activities foster creativity and teamwork. Students also benefit from seminars, training sessions, and technical fests, which provide exposure and opportunities to win awards. Various clubs are established to enhance interpersonal skills.
The Incubation Centre at SCE mentors students in launching innovative projects that address societal needs. It supports the development of ideas into viable products and facilitates commercialization. Alumni play a crucial role by reconnecting with the institution, sharing insights from their professional experiences, and contributing valuable suggestions for enhancing the educational experience. Their engagement also aids in student placements and future career aspirations.
SCE emphasizes continuous self-improvement, focusing on soft skills such as teamwork, analytical reasoning, and professional excellence. The ICT program includes training in Adobe Photoshop, MATLAB, web testing, CAD simulation, and Google Workspace. The Training and Placement Cell provides career guidance, insights into UPSC/TNPSC exams, and skill enhancement sessions led by industry experts. SCE has also established MOUs with various industries for internships, seminars, value-added courses, and certification programs.
The college ensures student safety and well-being through an Anti-Ragging Committee, Grievance Cell, and Internal Complaints Committee, providing a safe space for reporting issues and addressing concerns promptly. Students receive assistance with scholarships, including Post Metric, First Graduate, Government School Students’, and National Scholarships, alleviating financial pressures and allowing them to focus on their studies.
SCE’s NSS, RRC, and YRC collaborate on 84 voluntary activities, including eye check-up camps, blood donation drives, and tree planting. They also offer services such as campus cleaning, aiding orphanages, and conducting awareness programs. Educational initiatives include career guidance and computer literacy for school students, and medical check-ups. The institution is committed to environmental sustainability with waste segregation practices, a Green Campus initiative, and efforts to eliminate non-disposable plastics.
